Exciting News!

I took an exhausting 2 day Stock Photography workshop earlier this month and decided to submit some of my better images to a Stock agency. Being new at this, I had no idea what to expect. Needless to say, I was quite surprised to find that of the ten images I submitted, six were selected!

This evening I've been preparing the keywords, attributes, model releases etc - I'll post a link to my micro gallery as soon as everything is set up.

So it begins...

I signed up for another online photography class at The Perfect Picture School of Photography. This time, I'm taking the eight week Understanding Exposure class taught by Bryan Peterson and Chris Hurtt. I'll post some images from the first assignment when I've got something worthy. While I was out trying to get some shots, I stumbled across the above photo. While this doesn't really fulfill the requirements of the first assignment but I'm still pretty pleased with it!

So much for sleep...

Sunrise

So much for sleep! After a long, exhausting week I was really looking forward to sleeping in this morning. Much to my chagrin, the wrong side of 5:30AM rolled around and I was wide awake. What to do.... I know - shoot the Tampa skyline at sunrise!

I hopped in my car and made it over to Tampa about 10 minutes later than I wanted to but was able to get some decent shots all the same. Right as I was getting ready to leave a crab fisherman in bright orange and yellow waders pulled his ten foot boat into the scene - I couldn't have planned that any better!

On the way home I stopped off at the Ben Davis Park on Courtney Cambell Causeway to get some implied motion shots of cars zooming by. It was a little too early in the morning to get the light I wanted so I pulled out my reflector and was able to redirect some sunlight to the parking meters. It almost looks as though I used a flash - but I promise, I didn't!

Back home, I processed the photos. After the workshop I had just completed where I learned some nifty photoshop tricks, I experimented with the "Selective Color" adjustment layer tool in photoshop (breaking my 1 minute rule in the process!). So yeah, some of these probably look a bit over-processed, I tried not to over-do it TOO much! ;)

One last thing, the main g33kart site got a long overdue re-work. I'm not a huge fan of Flash but I found a tool that works great called Simpleviewer and decided to run with it.

Whew!

DSC_1706

What a grueling weekend. I took part in a two day stock photography workshop taught by Bryan Peterson and Robert LaFollette. This was my first opportunity to see if I have what it takes to produce quality stock images so I was looking forward to the challenge.

The entire weekend consisted of six sessions, eight models and over one thousand images taken. I processed some of the better images and have uploaded them. Now I need to get some rest - I'm tired!
